We visited Daya Mina, an organization which works with persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Sri Lanka. It\u00a0is situated in Thalapathpitiya, Nugegoda, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Daya Mina is part of a charitable organization called “Sisters of Charity”. “Sisters of Charity” has two other such facilities across Sri Lanka. One of them,\u00a0Supem Uyana, is based in\u00a0Gonapinuwala. And the other one, Meth Mihira, is based in\u00a0Koralawella, Moratuwa.<\/p>\n

In Daya Mina, we met with Sister Anastasia, who was in charge of the establishment. Daya Mina provides vocational training, early intervention and different\u00a0therapies. They try to develop different skills of persons with Intellectual Disabilities, such as\u00a0social \u00a0and communication. Such skills would help them adopt better in the society. Different forms of art crafts, such as candles, key rings and carpets are being made there. The activities of Daya Mina is highly appreciable.<\/p>\n
