Along with the world the day was also celebrated in Bangladesh. On the eve of the day, the first National Conference on Down Syndrome &#8211; 2016 was held in Bangladesh. This is the first time any conference on Down Syndrome is being held in Bangladesh. The conference was held on Sunday, 20 March 2016. It was held at the Hospital Conference Hall of the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The conference was attended by professionals working in the Intellectual Disabilities field, doctors, policy makers, psychologists, educational psychologists, parents of persons with Intellectual Disabilities, and self advocates also. In the conference several papers on various topics were presented in the plenary sessions. Some of the notable topics were dental health of persons with Down Syndrome, and education of\u00a0persons with Down Syndrome.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On the occasion of\u00a0World Down Syndrome Day 2016, an awareness creation program was held by\u00a0Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (<em>SWID<\/em>). The program was held at the auditorium of SWID. The program was attended by officials from SWID and department of social services, parents of persons with Intellectual Disabilities and self advocates.
