Colombo, the largest metropolis in Sri Lanka. It is the administrative capital, with a population of 752,993. Situated on the western shore of the island nation, Colombo hosts one of the busiest sea ports in the region. Colombo is a beautiful metropolis hosting people of different ethnicity and religions. The city was controlled in different eras by the the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British. Their influence can be seen in the streets and building architecture of Colombo. It is a very cosmopolitan city. As it was frequented by traders from India, Greece, Persia, Rome and China. Their influence can be seen in the culture, food and religion. There are green parks throughout the city, where one can take a break and reconnect with the nature.
