Therap trains at Beautiful Mind. As part of our ongoing training process at Beautiful Mind, another training session was held in Beautiful Mind. A school, which serves persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Beautiful Mind is located to the North of Dhaka. In the training session, officials from the school along with the educational psychologist were present. Teachers of the schools were also present in the session to receive training. Planning Session with SWID
Therap had a discussion with Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled, Bangladesh. The discussion touched upon several issues. One of them was the planning of the 23rd Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) Conference. The 23rd AFID conference will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This chapter will be hosted by Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh in 2017. Discussion were hold upon the preparation promotional materials for the conference. The discussion was held with Mr. Jowaherul Islam Mamun, Secretary General of SWID. He is also the elected President,of Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID). World Down Syndrome Day Observed in Bangladesh 2016
World Down Syndrome Day 2016 was observed around the world on Monday, 21 March 2016. Along with the world the day was also celebrated in Bangladesh. On the eve of the day, the first National Conference on Down Syndrome - 2016 was held in Bangladesh. This is the first time any conference on Down Syndrome is being held in Bangladesh. The conference was held on Sunday, 20 March 2016. It was held at the Hospital Conference Hall of the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The conference was attended by professionals working in the Intellectual Disabilities field, doctors, policy makers, psychologists, educational psychologists, parents of persons with Intellectual Disabilities, and self advocates also. Therap finishes training at Sisters of Charity
We are please to announce that, Therap finishes its training at with the Sisters of Charity. In this phase of training, the staff and sisters of the Sisters of Charity took part in the training. The sisters and staffs who took the training in Colombo, will be followed up by Therap in the coming days. It was an interesting experience for us to see how do they cope up with a new technology such as Therap. The training was provided in an environment conducive for learning. Therap at Sisters of Charity
Sisters of Charity has started using Therap. As part of their training and implementation Therap conducted a training session for Sisters of Charity. Sisters of charity has been providing premier quality services to the persons with Intellectual Disabilities. For years now they have been advocating for the rights of persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Sri lanka. They have 3 institutes, the oldest of which dates back to 1964. They started the youngest of the institutes to serve the severely affected persons with Intellectual Disabilities by the Boxing Day tsunami, which devastated Sri Lanka in 2004. The training was administered by Malisa Mahjabeen in the facility of the government institution with the staff and teachers receiving the training. The government of Sri Lanka is providing services to persons with Intellectual Disabilities through different institutions and organizations. Therap starts training Sisters of Charity
Therap has conducted a training and implementation session at the Sisters of Charity. There was a nice arrangement made to provide the training at one of the institutes of Sisters of Charity. Sisters of Charity has been an active advocate for the rights of persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Sri Lanka. With their 3 institutions, they have been providing service to the persons with Intellectual Disabilities for decades now. In the training session, they got introduced to Therap. They understood how a new software technology can help them improve the service they are providing to the persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Therap trains at The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind
Therap arranged a training and implementation session at The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind. The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, is one of the premier institutes catering to the needs of persons with hearing impairment and visual impairment. They are also providing service to persons with multiple disabilities. The schools have dedicated computer labs in them. The computers in the computer labs have JAWS Screen Reader software installed in them. This software assists persons with visual impairment to use the computer. Malisa Mehjabeen conducted the training session, where the participants were taught about Therap. We will come back to continue our efforts at The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind.
