The foundation of a successful education or support plan lies in its precision. On April 21, 2026, Therap Global hosted an impactful online workshop titled “Designing Effective IEPs – Defining Goals and Mastering Data Collection.” Led by Global Team Member Md. Tanvir Mahabub (Tanvir), the session brought together over 70 attendees from across the globe, including participants from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, and Trinidad and Tobago.
We looked at how using digital tools makes IEPs more accurate and easier to track.
Moving Beyond the Paper: SMART Goals & Structured Documentation
We kicked off the session with a deep dive into the philosophy of goal setting. The core takeaway was clear: an IEP is only as strong as its data. Tanvir emphasized that without SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals, support from staff and educators can become inconsistent. Clear goals provide a roadmap, ensuring every member of a person’s support team is moving in the same direction.
Putting Tools into Action: ISP Modules and Templates: The workshop featured a practical demonstration of the Individual Support Plan (ISP) as a tool for tracking IEP goal progress. We showed participants how to:
- Document long-term objectives with ease.
- Break down complex goals into manageable milestones.
- Ensure that every task is linked back to the individual’s overall progress.
Real-Time Data via the Therap Global Mobile App
One of the highlights was the demonstration of the Therap Global Mobile App. In today’s fast-paced environment, data collection shouldn’t be a chore. We showed how educators and providers can capture real-time data at the point of care, with the added capability of attaching photo and video evidence to provide a holistic view of an individual’s achievements.
An Interactive Global Dialogue: The session truly came alive during the Q&A. With attendees from diverse backgrounds, the discussion covered a wide range of practical topics, including:
- Refining IEP goal language for different disability types.
- Therap System setup and the use of provider codes.
- Best practices for consistent progress tracking across large agencies.
The Future is Here: AI-Powered Summarization
Before closing, we were thrilled to share a sneak peek into the future of Therap Global. We announced our upcoming AI-Powered Summarization and Translation tools. These features will soon allow agencies to automatically summarize vast amounts of IEP progress data, saving administrative time and providing clearer insights for families and stakeholders.
