Therap Training Continues in Sri Lanka

Therap visited Colombo on the last week of October, 2016. Prattay Iqbal from International Business Development visited special schools and agencies in Colombo who already signed up with Therap. On site training were given to the teachers and administrators of Daya Mina, Supem Uyana, Meth Mihira, The School for Blind, Child Guidance Center and Victory Special School in Colombo. MENCAFEP from Nuwera Eliya have been attending online training with Therap for a while and this time other schools were also willing to arrange remote training sessions. Training of 3 Schools of SWID

The training of 3 schools have been continuing at SWID. The 3 new branches of SWID will be using Therap for Documentation. As part of providing the service to the new schools, Therap is providing training services for the new schools. In this training session, how to use Therap effectively was taught. On this training session, the training was conducted by Andalib Kabir, International Business Development Executive, and Ashiqur Rahman, Training and Implementation Specialist of Therap. The schools are making progress towards using Therap for documentation. Therap to Visit Sri Lanka

Senior officials from Therap will visit Sri Lanka from Sunday, 3 April 2016. On this visit members of the visiting team will be visiting different governmental and non-governmental institution in Sri lanka. Alot of these institutions in Sri Lanka have already started using Therap. They have been keeping real data in Therap. On this visit we will explore more options and have meetings with different  government and non-government officials from the Intellectual Disabilities field. Among the members who will be part of the visiting team, Andalib Kabir, International Business Development Executive and Faisal Iqbal, Assistant Director, Training and Implementation at Therap. New Schools Start Training at SWID

New schools have started training on Therap. There are 3 new schools which has started the training on Therap. These schools are different branches of SWID. Currently we are focusing on the branches of SWID which are based in Dhaka. Very soon all the branches of SWID located in Dhaka will be using Therap, and generating data. This training was attended by officials and teachers from the 3 schools. This simultaneous training was conducted by Andalib Kabir, International Business Development Executive, and Ashiqur Rahman, Training and Implementation Specialist of Therap. Training at Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh

Therap arranged a training and implementation session at Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh. In this session of training administrative officers, educational psychologists, physiologists and teachers of SWID were also present at the training. The training session was conducted by Malisa Mehjabeen, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist, Andalib Kabir, International Business Development Executive, and Ashiqur Rahman, Training and Implementation Specialist. A new batch of trainees have started training with Therap. Part of the trainees will train other institutes under SWID around Bangladesh. This has been an interesting session for us. Therap Trains at Beautiful Mind

Therap trains at Beautiful Mind. As part of our ongoing training process at Beautiful Mind, another training session was held in Beautiful Mind. A school, which serves persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Beautiful Mind is located to the North of Dhaka. In the training session, officials from the school along with the educational psychologist were present. Teachers of the schools were also present in the session to receive training. Planning Session with SWID

Therap had a discussion with Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled, Bangladesh. The discussion touched upon several issues. One of them was the planning of the 23rd Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) Conference. The 23rd AFID conference will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This chapter will be hosted by Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh in 2017. Discussion were hold upon the preparation promotional materials for the conference. The discussion was held with Mr. Jowaherul Islam Mamun, Secretary General of SWID. He is also the elected President,of Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID). World Down Syndrome Day Observed in Bangladesh 2016

World Down Syndrome Day 2016 was observed around the world on Monday, 21 March 2016. Along with the world the day was also celebrated in Bangladesh. On the eve of the day, the first National Conference on Down Syndrome - 2016 was held in Bangladesh. This is the first time any conference on Down Syndrome is being held in Bangladesh. The conference was held on Sunday, 20 March 2016. It was held at the Hospital Conference Hall of the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The conference was attended by professionals working in the Intellectual Disabilities field, doctors, policy makers, psychologists, educational psychologists, parents of persons with Intellectual Disabilities, and self advocates also. Therap finishes training at Sisters of Charity

We are please to announce that, Therap finishes its training at with the Sisters of Charity. In this phase of training, the staff and sisters of the Sisters of Charity took part in the training. The sisters and staffs who took the training in Colombo, will be followed up by Therap in the coming days. It was an interesting experience for us to see how do they cope up with a new technology such as Therap. The training was provided in an environment conducive for learning.
