Government Agency Starts Using Therap
Therap has started training and implementation at a government agency under the Department of Social Services of Sri lanka. It was an agency which specializes in early intervention. The staff at the agency were very enthusiastic about the training. Malisa Mahjabeen conducted the training session. Eager to learn about the software, they got introduced to the concepts of Therap. Brothers of Charity with persons with Intellectual Disabilities
Brothers of Charity has been working with persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities for the past 25 Years in Sri Lanka. The have been working in several locations, which helps them cater to the deprived part of the community. Brothers of Charity started their operations with persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities in 1990. They have been providing services in 2 separate locations on the suburbs of Colombo. Very soon they are also going to start their operation in their third location, East of the country. Ceylon School for the Blind and Deaf starts using Therap
The Ceylon School for the Blind and Deaf, is one of the premier institutions in Sri Lanka, catering to the needs of persons with visual impairment and hearing impairment. This institute established in 1912, have recently started using Therap for their online documentation needs. We went there to arrange a training session with the teachers and staff of the school. In the first phase of the training they are getting introduced to the concepts of the software. The school caters to the need of persons with visual impairment and hearing impairment. The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind in Colombo, Sri Lanka
The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind is situated in Ratmalana, 12 km South of Colombo city center. The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind is one of the premier institutions which cater to the needs of people with hearing impairment and visual impairment in Sri Lanka. This institution is one of the oldest institutions of such kind. It started its journey in 1912, with only 2 children. Now they have 3 schools in Sri Lanka. 2 of them are situated in the same campus. Reached Sri Lanka Safely
I will be blogging about our visit to Sri lanka in my next few post. We will try to give you an idea about our activities in Sri Lanka. We will also try to showcase some of the prime institutions in Sri Lanka, which are working in the Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities field. We hope these posts will give you a glimpse of the activities of Therap Asia. It was a direct flight from Dhaka to Colombo. We reached Colombo early in the morning. It was a pleasant flight. Therap to start training and implementation in Sri Lanka
Therap will start training and implementation in Sri Lanka very soon. Malisa Mahjabeen and Andalib Kabir, from Therap will visit Sri lanka from 14 February, 2016. We are going to meet with institutions in the Intellectual Disabilities field in Sri Lanka and provide them with training on the use of Therap. There are several institutions in Sri Lanka who have agreed to use Therap. There are also potential user institutions in Sri Lanka, with whom we are in talks with. Follow up session at Smiling Children Special School
Malisa and I went to Smiling Children Special School, to follow up on them. The school reopened after the annual break in December. As it is the start of the new term, There has been new developments in the school. Smiling Children Special School has been using several modules of the system, relevant to them. In the session we followed up with them on several issues they were facing. They have made progress towards using the system for day to day documentation. Therap conducts training session at Beautiful Mind
Beautiful Mind has started using Therap. They are slowly being introduced to the different modules of the system through the training sessions conducted by Therap. Beautiful Mind has a motivated group of employees, who has been attending the training sessions. During the training session, they mentioned how using Therap would help them better organize the data, they currently use. One important thing we observed, how compatible the software Therap is with them. The documentation they do now with pen and paper, can be done online in Therap. Training session at SWID
Therap conducted another training session at SWID, Bangladesh. SWID, Bangladesh is one of the leading service providers in the Intellectual Disabilities field in Bangladesh. SWID, Bangladesh has been very proactive during the training session. They are picking the lessons up in a fairly short amount of time. Having a large base of students, we hope they will be able to make use of the system efficiently. We are holding training on different modules relevant in Asia.
