Therap Global, the leader in providing electronic documentation services to agencies and providers supporting Persons with Disabilities (PWD) organized yet another successful 3rd Annual Therap Global Dhaka Conference on March 20, 2019. Many agencies in the developmental disability field participated with great enthusiasm in this conference including BRAC.

BRAC is the largest non-governmental development organization in the world in terms of the number of employees, based in Bangladesh. This was the 2nd time in a row that BRAC attended the Annual Therap Global Dhaka Conference. What’s interesting about BRAC’s participation is that last year, when BRAC participated in our 2nd Annual Conference, they didn’t know much about Therap Global, but through the conference, this renowned NGO showed keen interest to work with Therap Global and help Persons with Disabilities (PWD). Afterwards, we organized several training sessions on using Therap system including onsite training, visit to BRAC center, training at BRAC Training Center with its teachers and staff. BRAC started working with Neuro-developmental disability (NDD) centre, in 2014 with one room school and later expanded to 3 rooms for academic room, sensory, stimulation and therapy room, along with a play therapy room in 2016 and 2018.

Limia Dewan, Senior Programme Manager at BRAC Education Programme gave a brief overview at the conference about BRAC NDD centres, including the process of working with Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and how Therap Global is positively impacting their agencies to electronically document vital information and activities of the individuals. The NDD centres have 15-20 students with 2 teachers and 1 care assistant. She shared the challenges of this field such as lack of credible data on NDD, lack of electronic records, and limited appropriate resource centers to seek help. She appreciated how after working with Therap Global, they changed and transformed their infrastructure and teaching arrangement, along with the introduction of play lab. With the collaboration of Therap Global and BRAC, they were able to implement Therap system for person-centered electronic documentation in all BRAC NDD centres. The regular online and onsite training and support materials (user guides, training videos, webinars) helped BRAC members to work efficiently for the cause of supporting Persons with Disabilities (PWD). She also shared her vision of implementing Therap system at all BRAC centers globally for electronic documentation as an effective and instant reporting and communication tool between field staff and staff at the headquarters, from any part of the country for improved care, transparency, and accountability.
