They currently have 60 affiliate members in Sri Lanka. They have recently hosted The 22nd Conference on Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities. We visited a day care center which is being run by CAMR in Colombo, Sri Lanka. There we had a meeting with the executive committee of CAMR. A demonstration of Threap was provided to the executive committee of CAMR and the benefits were highlighted. Closing Ceremony of 22nd AFID Conference
22nd AFID General Assembly being held The closing ceremony of The 22nd Conference on Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities was being held on 7 October, 2015. The ceremony started with live performances by persons with Intellectual Disabilities. There were also presentations done by self advocates of different member countries. They shared their life stories, and how they are coping up with the society. This was followed by the general assembly of The 22nd Conference on Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities. With Tahmina Huq, Special Education Teacher for Ministry of Education, Singapore Andalib and Faisal with delegates from APSN, Singapore. Delegates from Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), were present at The 22nd Conference on Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities. The delegation was led by Dr. Francis C. Chen, who is an honorary member of Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID). We had exchange of ideas with the delegates. The idea of use of ICT in the Intellectual Disabilities field was well received by the delegates.
Therap Visits Child Guidance Center in Colombo
Child Guidance Center, No. 11, Wela Road, Pathiragoda, Maharagama, Colombo, Sri Lanka Andalib and Faisal with delegates of 22nd AFID at Child Guidance Center at Colombo, Sri Lanka We along with a group of delegates visited Child Guidance Center, at Maharagama, Colombo, as part of the 22nd AFID. The Child Guidance Center is run by the Department of Social Services under Ministry of Social Services and Social Welfare, Sri Lanka. Mrs. G. L. Leela Gunasinghe, Superintendent of the center guided the delegates of the 22nd AFID. There were delegates of Singapore, Japan, Bangladesh and Korea. Presentation by Therap at the 22nd AFID Conference
Faisal Iqbal Presents at The 22nd AFID Conference Therap at The 22nd AFID Conference Faisal Iqbal, Asst. Dir. of Training and Implementation at Therap, presented at a plenary session of the 22nd Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) Conference. The paper titled “Leveraging Software to Improve Quality of Care in the Intellectual Disability Community” was presented by Faisal. The paper elaborates on how the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can benefit the Intellectual Disabilities field in Asia. The paper was well accepted by the delegates of the conference, which was followed through with a question answer session and subsequent one-to-one discussions at the Therap booth.

Andalib, Faisal and Caroline at the booth of Therap Caroline Essame, who is the Managing Director of CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY AND TRAINING Pte Ltd., came by the booth of Therap Services at The 22nd Conference of Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities. She is a Consultant Art Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and an Educator based in Singapore. She was very much interested about how Therap works and how it can impact the Intellectual Disabilities field in Asia.

The booth of Therap Servicse was visited by Mrs. Pramila Balasundaram from India. Mrs. Pramila is the founder and director of Samadhan, a non-profit organization operating in India. She is one of the leading advocates for the Intellectual Disabilities field in India. She visited the booth to know about Therap, and the prospect of Therap in the Intellectual Disabilities field in Asia. She is very hopeful about the technology, and hopes this technology will help the schools and services providers in Asia.
